About
I work at home in my two studios; the main one is in New Orleans, the other one is in the west of Ireland where I live for a few months each year in the summer. I studied at the Boston Museum School and Cooper Union in New York City, as well as The New School and The Arts Students’ League. Besides studying fine arts, I also studied antiques and art history at Sotheby’s in London, and graduated from The International Culinary Center in New York. I was lucky enough to grow up in the Off Broadway theater world in New York City where both my parents were involved. My part was as a set painter and designer. I have had many gallery shows in the East Village, and a one woman show at La Mama, NY NY. Lately, after moving to New Orleans a few years ago, I find I have more time to paint and to enjoy being surrounded by wonderful artists who have been a great inspiration for me. I am working towards an upcoming show at the Sullivan Gallery in New Orleans for October 2025 where I have already had three one woman shows in the last few years, and wonderfully, I recently had two paintings accepted and shown at the royal academy in London for their summer exhibition.
Series
Recent Work
Various recent work that is not yet part of a series.
Portraits
People's faces I find endlessly interesting, especially the "caught off guard" moments, if you're lucky enough to catch them.Animals
Still Lifes
Painted over the last 15 years once I started gardening and fell in love with flowers.
Concourse of Animals
I first got the idea from a 17th century Iranian painting called the concourse of birds. The animals and birds painted for this show where all on the endangered list. I wanted them safe, so I pulled them into the garden.
The Last Supper
I wanted to invite my friends to supper. That's how it started, and it became this twelve-part piece.
Notes When Walking the Dog
These 9″x12″ canvas board oil paintings were made after I finished walking my dog. During each walk I noticed yet another compelling color or shadow on the beautiful houses here in New Orleans.
Collaborative Work
These works were done in New Orleans, in collaboration with a wonderful artist named Andrea Brown.
Details of Fairytales
Details of what's happening off-stage of a fairytale.
Doors, Windows and Houses
I have always been attracted to doors and windows and their shadows. These architectural elements I feel are barriers to the secrets people create.
Gardens
Gardens are fascinating to me; I see them as elaborate "living" paintings, like animated nature. Garden of EdenThese paintings were done in Ireland at the Mill where i spend a lot of my time as well. It has a very large flower garden with apple trees, birds and a mill...
War in Heaven
This 36 foot mural, when all 12 paintings are put together, is about kicking the devil into hell. It was a project done over a period of two years.
Porch Series
This series was done a while back, when I was living in Coconut Grove, Florida. These oil paintings are views from our family's porch and inside the house as well.
